Security/Protection

Training Your Dog for Security & Protection

For the trainers at International K9 in Weatherford, TX there are two types of training to increase the protection your current dog provides.

First there is home guard which raises the dog’s aggression and awareness around the house towards suspicious situations such as window entries or strangers.

Second, there is personal protection which teaches the dog who, what, where, how, and when to stop biting. The dog can apply this knowledge to any situation. This is on a case by case basis and depends on our evaluation of the dog and owners.

If your dog is unable to do this type of training we can find a trained dog for you.

Taking a Balanced Approach

Naturally, for the best outcome, we urge protection/security training as a follow-up to our obedience training. This results in a smooth transition working directly with our trainers from one set of behaviors to new training and learning.

Our training involves the cultivation of the dogs’ natural instincts in reaction to threats. By focusing on the use of commands that sets the protection mode in motion and commands that can halt the protection once the threat is gone. We perform very intensive training and not all animals are adaptive to it. That’s why any protection training begins with a close review of the dog before we start.
